Ruru Kshetra in World Heritage List

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation has added 15 cultural heritage properties of Nepal including Rishikesh Temple of Ruru Kshetra in World Heritage Tentative list.Its is a pagoda style temple which is contributing Ruru Kshetra to make a pilgrimage site. In 1st Magh(15th January) every year, pilgrims from different corners of Nepal come here to take sacred bath in the river and then pay homage at the temple. In a letter sent to Ministry of Foreign Affairs by the UNESCO, the other 14 cultural heritage properties that comply with the Operation Guidelines concerning Tentative Lists submission include Bhurti Temple of Dailekh, Muktinath Valley in Mustang, Khokana, the vernacular village and its mustard-oil seed industrial heritage, Medieval Earthen Walled City of Lo Manthang, Medieval Settlement of Kirtipur, Nuwakot Palace Complex, Ram Janaki Temple, Ramagrama - the relic stupa of Lord Buddha, Rishikesh Complex of Ruru Kshetra, Sinja valley, Medieval Town of Tansen, early medieval architectural complex of Panauti, medieval palace complex of Gorkha, Tilaurkot, the archaeological remains of ancient Shakya Kingdom, Vajrayogini and early settlement of Sankhu.The new Tentative List of Nepal was registered to UNESCO on January 30. The letter will be forwarded to Department of Archaeology.
