The Tribhuvan University has formed a five-member committee to investigate into a question paper ‘leakage’ during an entrance examination for the Institute of Engineering (IoE).
The committee led by a former TU registrar includes, among others, Associate Professor at IOE Binod Parajuli.
Candidates resorted to vandalism at the offices of the dean and the examination department alleging that the papers were leaked prior to the test. According to TU Vice-chancellor Hira Bahadur Maharjan, the university will decide further action in the case as recommended by the committee.
“The committee was formed based on the students’ claim that the papers were leaked. We will decide on the matter as per the recommendation,” he said.
Various student unions, accusing the IoE dean of leaking the question sets, have demanded fresh tests.
“Photocopies of handwritten question papers along with
their answers were found prior to the test,” said Nepal Students’ Union President Ranjeet Karna, who was present at the entrance venue. He added that the incident has defamed the glorious history of the IoM and
the dean was responsible for it.
“Dean Bharat Pahari should resign before the investigation team starts work,” said Karna. Despite several attempts, Pahari could not be contacted for comments.
